Once upon a time...

...there was a story telling service provided for Primary Age Children from Nursery to Year 6. A wide range of stories and readings were presented whilst working closely with the school to ensure the programme supported their objectives and the requirements of the National Curriculum.

The story teller was CRB checked, a qualified and experienced primary school teacher, enthusiastic about reading and able to effectively communicate and entertain.

The children listened, learned, laughed and remembered and (as far as we know) ...they all lived happily ever after.

Creative Writing Workshops for primary schools

The basic elements of teaching children to communicate more effectively are to be found in the Literacy Strategies we employ including Speaking, Reading and Writing.

I may use artefacts, readings, role-play drama, music, art, puppetry, mime or any other suitable means to interest, inspire and involve the group in exploring the possibilities for their creative writing during the session.

The group will be introduced to a variety of ways of structuring their writing and be reminded of elements they can use to maintain the readers interest. Worksheets may be used to offer simple outlines, structures, suggestions or methods that might be of use in the creative writing process.

Every child has a story to tell!

They simply need to be shown how to open up their minds in order to express themselves in a constructive and engaging manner.
